Title: Orign Of Love?
Artist: John Cameron Mitchell

When the earth was still flat,
´ëÁö°¡ ¾ÆÁ÷ ÆòÆòÇß°í,
And the clouds made of fire,
±¸¸§µéÀº ºÒŸ°í ÀÖ´ø ½ÃÀý,
And mountains stretched up to the sky,
±×¸®°í »ê¸ÆÀº ÇϴñîÁö,
Sometimes higher,
¶Ç °¡²ûÀº ±× º¸´Ùµµ ³ô°Ô »¸¾î ÀÖ´ø ±× ¶§¿¡,
Folks roamed the earth
»ç¶÷µéÀº Ä¿´Ù¶õ ¼úÅëÀÌ ±¼·¯´Ù´Ïµí
Like big rolling kegs.
´ëÁöÀ§¸¦ ¹èȸÇßÁö
They had two sets of arms.
±×µé¿¡°Õ µÎ ½ÖÀÇ ÆÈ°ú
They had two sets of legs.
µÎ ½ÖÀÇ ´Ù¸®
They had two faces peering
ÇϳªÀÇ Å« ¸Ó¸®¿¡¼ ³ª¿Â
Out of one giant head
³ª¿Â µÎ°³ÀÇ ¾ó±¼À» °¡Áö°í ÀÖ¾ú¾î
So they could watch all around them
±×·¡¼ ±×µéÀº ¸ðµç ÁÖÀ§¸¦ Çѹø¿¡ º¼ ¼ö ÀÖ¾ú°í
As they talked while they read.
ÀÐÀ¸¸é¼ µ¿½Ã¿¡ ¸»ÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖ¾úÁö
And they never knew nothing of love.
±× ¶§ ±×µéÀº »ç¶û¿¡ ´ëÇؼ ¾Æ¹«°Íµµ ¸ô¶ú¾î
It was before the origin of love.
»ç¶ûÀÇ ±â¿ø ÀüÀ̾úÀ¸´Ï

The origin of love
»ç¶ûÀÇ ±â¿ø

And there were three sexes then,
±×·¡¼ ±× ¶§´Â ¼¼ °³ÀÇ ¼ºÀÌ ÀÖ¾ú´Âµ¥
One that looked like two men
Çϳª´Â µÎ ³²ÀÚ°¡ µîÀÌ
Glued up back to back,
ºÙÀº °Í °°Àº ¸ð¾çÀ¸·Î
Called the children of the sun.
žçÀÇ ¾ÆÀ̶ó°í ºÒ¸®¾úÁö
And similar in shape and girth
Áö±¸ÀÇ ¾ÆÀÌ ¿ª½Ã
Were the children of the earth.
ºñ½ÁÇÑ ¸ð¾ç°ú Å©±â¸¦ °¡Á³¾ú´Âµ¥
They looked like two girls
µÎ ¿©ÀÚ°¡ Çϳª·Î
Rolled up in one.
ÇÕÃÄÁø ¸ð½ÀÀ̾ú¾î
And the children of the moon
±×¸®°í ´ÞÀÇ ¾ÆÀ̵éÀº
Were like a fork shoved on a spoon.
¼ý°¡¶ô¿¡ Æ÷Å©°¡ °ãÃÄÁø
They were part sun, part earth
¸ð¾çÀ¸·Î ÇÑÂÊÀº žç ÇÑÂÊÀº Áö±¸
Part daughter, part son.
Áï ÇÑÂÊÀº µþ ÇÑ ÂÊÀº ¾ÆµéÀ̾ú¾î

The origin of love
»ç¶ûÀÇ ±â¿ø

Now the gods grew quite scared
¾î´À³¯ ½ÅµéÀº Àΰ£ÀÇ Èû°ú ¹ÝÇ×¼º¿¡
Of our strength and defiance
²Ï³ª °ÌÀ» ¸Ô°Ô µÇ¾úÁö
And Thor said
±× ¶§, Å丣°¡ ¸»Çß¾î
'I'm gonna kill them all
'³»°¡ °ÅÀÎÁ·À» Á׿´´ø °Í ó·³
With my hammer like I killed the giants.'
³» ¸ÁÄ¡·Î ÀüºÎ ¸ô»ì½Ã۸®¶ó'
And Zeus said, 'No,
±×·¯ÀÚ, Á¦¿ì½º°¡ ¸»ÇßÁö '¾Æ³Ä,
You better let me
³»°Ô ¸Ã°Ü
Use my lightening, like scissors,
³»°¡ °í·¡ÀÇ ¹ßÀ» ÀÚ¸£°í
Like I cut the legs off the whales
°ø·æÀ» Àß°Ô ½ä¾î µµ¸¶¹ìÀ» ¸¸µç °Í ó·³
And dinosaurs into lizards.'
³» ¹ø°³¸¦ °¡À§Ã³·³ ½áÁÙÅ״ϱî'
Then he grabbed up some bolts
±×·¯´õ´Ï º¶ôÀ» ¸î °³ Áý¾îµé°í
And he let out a laugh,
Å« ¿ôÀ½ Çѹø ³» ¹ñ°í´Â ÀÌ·¸°Ô ¸»Çß¾î
Said, 'I'll split them right down the middle.
'µü Áß°£À» Âɰ³ ÁÖ¸®¶ó.
Gonna cut them right up in half.'
Á¤È®È÷ ¹ÝÂÊÀ¸·Î À߶ó ÁÖ¸®¶ó.'
And then storm clouds gathered above
±×¸®°í´Â ÆødzÀÌ ÇÏ´Ã À§¿¡ ¸ðÀÌ´õ´Ï
Into great balls of fire
°Å´ëÇÑ ºÒµ¢À̰¡ µÇ¾ú¾î

And then fire shot down
±×¸®°í´Â ºÒÀÌ! º¶ôÀÌ µÇ¾î
From the sky in bolts
Çϴ÷ΠºÎÅÍ ½î¾ÆÁ³Áö
Like shining blades
¸¶Ä¡ ºû³ª´Â
Of a knife.
Ä®³¯ ó·³
And it ripped right through the flesh
Âõ°í ¶â¾î¹ö¸°°Å¾ß
Of the children of the sun
±× ºÒÀÌ Å¾ç°ú
And the moon
´Þ°ú
And the earth.
Áö±¸ÀÇ ¾ÆÀ̵éÀÇ »ìÀ»
And some Indian god
±×¸®°í ¾î¶² ÀεµÀÇ ½ÅÀº
Sewed the wound up into a hole,
±× »óó¸¦ ±¸¸ÛÀÌ µÇµµ·Ï ²ç¸Å¾î
Pulled it round to our belly
¹èÂÊÀ¸·Î ´ç°Ü¼ ¿Å°Ü³õ¾Æ
To remind us of the price we pay.
¿ì¸®°¡ Ä¡·é ´ñ°¡¸¦ ¾ðÁ¦³ª ±â¾ïÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖ°Ô ÇßÁö
And Osiris and the gods of the Nile
±×¸®°í ¿À½Ã¸®½º¿Í ³ªÀϰÀÇ ½ÅµéÀº
Gathered up a big storm
Ä¿´Ù¶õ Æødz¿ì¸¦ ¸ô°í¿Í
To blow a hurricane,
ÅÂdzÀ» ºÒ°ÔÇÏ¿©,
To scatter us away,
¿ì¸®¸¦ »Ô»ÔÀÌ Èð¾îÁö°Ô,
In a flood of wind and rain,
¹Ù¶÷°ú ºñÀÇ Æødz¼ÓÀ¸·Î,
And a sea of tidal waves,
Á¶¼öÀÇ Æĵµ°¡ ³ÑÄ¡´Â ¹Ù´Ù·Î,
To wash us all away,
¿ì¸® ÀüºÎ ¾µ·Á ³ª°¡°Ô Çß¾î,
And if we don't behave
¶Ç ¿ì¸®°¡ ±îºÒ¸é
They'll cut us down again
¶Ç ÇÑ ¹ø À߶ó¹ö¸± °Å¶ó°í
And we'll be hopping round on one foot
±×·¸°Ô µÇ¸é ÇÑ ¹ß·Î ¶Ù¾î ´Ù´Ï°í
And looking through one eye.
ÇÑ ´«À» ÅëÇØ ¼¼»óÀ» º¸°Ô µÇ°ÚÁö.

Last time I saw you
¸¶Áö¸· ³Î ºÃÀ» ¶§´Â
We had just split in two.
¿ì¸®´Â ¸· µÑ·Î ³ª´µ¾îÁ³À» ¶§¿´À» °Å¾ß
You were looking at me.
³Í ³¯ ¹Ù¶óº¸°í ÀÖ¾ú°í.
I was looking at you.
³ªµµ ³Î ¹Ù¶óº¸°í ÀÖ¾úÁö.
You had a way so familiar,
³×°Õ Ä£¼÷ÇÑ ¹º°¡°¡ ÀÖ¾úÁö¸¸,
But I could not recognize,
³ ¾Ë¾Æº¸Áö ¸øÇß¾î,
Cause you had blood on your face
³× ¾ó±¼¿£ Çǰ¡ ¹¯¾îÀÖ¾ú°í
I had blood in my eyes.
³» ´«¿£ Çǰ¡ ¹¯¾îÀÖ¾ú±â ¶§¹®À̰ÚÁö.
But I could swear by your expression
ÇÏÁö¸¸ ³× Ç¥Á¤À» º¸´Ï
That the pain down in your soul
³× ¿µÈ¥ ±íÀº °÷ÀÇ »óó´Â ³» ¿µÈ¥ ¼ÓÀÇ »óó¿Í
Was the same as the one down in mine.
°°Àº °ÍÀ̶ó´Â È®½ÅÀÌ µé¾î.
That's the pain,
±×°Ô ¹Ù·Î ±× »óó¾ß
Cuts a straight line
½ÉÀåÀ» Á÷¼±À¸·Î
Down through the heart;
½ÉÀåÀ» Á÷¼±À¸·Î °üÅëÇÏ¸ç º£´Â »óó
We called it love.
±× »óó¸¦ ¿ì¸° »ç¶ûÀ̶ó ºÎ¸£Áö.
So we wrapped our arms around each other,
±×·¡¼ ¿ì¸° ¼·Î¸¦ Æȹú·Á ¾È¾ÒÁö,
Trying to shove ourselves back together.
¼·ÎÀÇ ¸ö¿¡ ¼·Î¸¦ Áý¾î ³Ö¾î ´Ù½Ã Çϳª°¡ µÇ°Ô Çϸ鼭
We were making love,
¿ì¸®´Â »ç¶ûÀ» Çß¾î
Making love.
»ç¶ûÀ» ÇßÁö
It was a cold dark evening,
±× ¶§´Â ¾ÆÁÖ ¿À·¡Àü,
Such a long time ago,
Ãä°í ¾îµÎ¿î Àú³áÀ̾ú¾î
When by the mighty hand of Jove,
Á¦¿ì½ºÀÇ Àü´ÉÇÑ ´É·ÂÀ¸·Î ¸»¹Ì¾ÏÀº ±× ¶§,
It was the sad story
±×°Ç ½½Ç À̾߱â
How we became
¿ì¸®°¡ ¾î¶»°Ô
Lonely two-legged creatures,
¿Ü·Î¿î µÎ ¹ß Áü½ÂÀÌ µÇ¾ú´ÂÁö¿¡ ´ëÇÑ
It's the story of
±×°ÍÀº
The origin of love.
»ç¶ûÀÇ ±â¿ø¿¡ ´ëÇÑ À̾߱â
That's the origin of love.
±×°ÍÀÌ »ç¶ûÀÇ ±â¿ø
